Why shouldn’t a science professor, an expert in the field, call someone a “moron” when they deny the very science they teach? It’s not a “controversial political comment”—it’s a fact. We used to stone people for saying the Earth revolves around the sun; now we’re outraged over a professor calling out ignorance.
Sounds like you're very unfamiliar with the topics at hand. Not the least of which is what is and isn't appropriate in a college classroom. Regardless of how you feel about a politician or media figure, stick to the lecture and do not offer your personal takes there.
This kind of behavior is so totally and obviously inappropriate. I can't believe we've lost sight of this in academia...
